Coyote House Travel Program

THANK YOU FOR PARTICIPATING IN THE BGRA COYOTES PROGRAM TRYOUTS.

BGRA House Travel Program

BGRA Travel Players will be selected for ages U8-U14, as determined by board policies.  Players chosen to play on these teams must make a substantial commitment of time to the travel team in addition to their house team.

Only players playing in our current house league are eligible to tryout.  Player cannot play or practice with any team not affiliated with the BGRA organization to be eligible for this travel program.

Open tryouts will be held in March, as shown below, Players will be evaluated on all aspects of baseball. The BGRA board has final approval of all players’ selections.

Players must pre-register for the tryouts. We cannot guarantee your child a tryout without being pre-registered.

To register please log into your account. On your "My Account Page" you will find a button similar to
Your button will display from 1 - 4 programs available. Once you select the button you will see the Coyote program appropriate for your child as one of your options.

There is no fee for tryouts. If you child is selected to participate on a Coyote team the registration fee for the travel season will be $375 for all ages.

The BGRA will assemble as many teams at each age level as we feel can be competitive. However we will not determine the number of teams at each age until after tryouts are completed. The number of teams will be based on the size, talent, and competitive nature of the different age groups. Teams will be comprised of anywhere between 11-15 players per team.

The following are the birthday parameters for each age group as defined by the league we play in, LSFBL. However, the BGRA typically does not allow players to play up or down regardless of the below birth date parameters. If you feel that we should make an exception please contact Russ Goldstein at [email protected] prior to tryouts to discuss.

Open Tryouts / Schedule

There will be two days of tryouts for each age.

One day will be devotes to hitting and pitching and the other to infield and outfield skills.  Tryouts will be held be indoor at Gorilla Athletic Training located at 958 Corporate Woods Parkway in Vernon Hills both days.  **This is not the same  facility as we have used in the past**

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY

It is important to note that attending both days of standard tryouts gives us the best opportunity to evaluate each player.  However, if you can only attend one day we will evaluate all skills on that one day. We respect any decision you make concerning your child's attendance but as a matter of policy we cannot get involved in those family decisions.

You will have the opportunity during registration to indicate weather you can attend Day 1, Day 2 or Both.

Tryout Policies

  1. It is mandatory that you pre-register. We cannot guarantee your child a tryout without being pre-registered.
  2. Players must arrive 10 minutes early to check in and warm up.
  3. Parents are not allowed to stay and watch the tryouts.  Please feel free to sit out in the waiting area but please do not come back into the main area until we come get you.  We seldom end early but if we do we will most certainly stay with every player until a parent comes to get them.
  4. Players should please wear gym shoes (no cleats), baseball pants, a jersey with a name on it preferably, and a hat. Please bring at least a Baseball Glove, Bat and Helmet (if you have one). All players must be wearing a cup.  If you have other gear such as Catcher's Gear, a 1st base glove, etc. please feel free to bring it.
  5. Check the website for any changes/cancellations due to weather. In addition, emails will go out if we have any issues.
  6. It is mandatory that any vacation/overnight camp dates are listed when asked for during registration.  Not doing so could result in that child not being eligible for tryouts next year.
  7. Please be sure to try out with your SCHOOL year/grade even if you would like your child to be considered for another grade level.
  8. Selected players will called by coaches and informed by no later than Wednesday February 19th at 7:00 PM.
